What Does It For You?
For some, it might be the corner office, it might be doing a job spectacularly well, it might be clinching the deal of the century, it might be being a parent, it might be being a good friend.
It's probably not personified by something as mundane as a definable milestone that could be said to be terminated once you reach it. It's more like a neverending process of patience, faith and hardwork. Sometimes you wonder how you managed to get yourself into such a bind and wish everything didn't happen so life would be like that of so many others; simple, uncomplicated, standard.
But then sometimes it is not a bind at all but something that keeps throwing bigger hurdles at you with an aim. It's a weird creature that seems to morph into just what you need, but a rather tight-fisted one that only rations it out at the moments you need it. You only proceed to the next level when you've learnt what you need it, not because these opinions are directly needed to overcome what's next, but perhaps because these opinions are the only ones that could allow you to initiate a response that enables you to clear the next hurdle.
A book gives you something new each time you read it. And different people see different things reading the same book. Perhaps it matters not that things seen at any one time are different, but that things are seen with the same aim.
