Flu bugs are such a bother. Even Sibelius isn't very interesting with a flu bug. No ideas coming ringing my doorbell upstairs. It clouds everything, including grammar and the car windscreen. Those little yellow pills for a runny nose...didn't know one could get resistant to them...it doesn't work for some yet knocks me out like a tungsten bulb on its last hours before replacement.
Heard some news yesterday, and I wonder if offering an ear (ok, two) and a hopeful "everything will be alright" is ever going to be enough. Glad to be usable, and proud that you're handling it so well. Keep it up!!
Had a very interesting lunch yesterday (and interesting lunches are hard to come by in these settings) and had such a wry good laugh over the state of affairs in this area. It's always so reassuring to have someone scream abt an issue you've been thinking over and haven't reached a conclusion about without you having made any mention that this point holds with you. Erm, is it any surprise that it's a point that has a high propensity for a wicked turn?
Well, not that we're evil, but it seemed alright to allow ourselves this little guilty pleasure...and which liar doesn't want to admit to having had a good harmless laugh at someone else's expense before? But it is agreed things are bizarre here, driven by unrealistically "nice" morals. I suppose this is the effect of a overly ludicruous non-market mechanism. Yes, been OD-ing on the economics. People with odd reading habits, pls contact me.
Not quite Adam Smith, but Tom Harford, who is so brilliant with anecdotes, the sugar that helps the medicine go down. And my conclusion is, the overuse of pretense is not going to help any society reach utopia. Not "no pretense", because "pretense" or regulation is actually good for appropriate situations. But its overuse (which seems to be what is occurring here) can only retard progress.
Hope you had a safe flight there. I say "there" instead of "back", cos I'd imagine you'd like that better. Saw the making-of clips, they were screamingly hilarious!
